The most detail Cabrillo Unified School District provides for Measure S spending is in the annual audit report which shows $37M in spending and mentions another $11M in commitments. We have not tried to reconcile this report with the CUSD’s actual Measure S contracts and commitments which total $63.2M according to the CUSD board materials. Unfortunately the audit report does not show vendors, so it does not show that Blach Construction has received $45M from CUSD in six no bid contracts. Also the audit report would not reflect the $14.9 Cunha Building C contract since repairs haven’t started yet and the final contract has not been approved yet – CUSD will get a price from Blach Construction sometime later this year. The Board’s alternatives will presumably be accept whatever price Blach puts on the contract, or let Building C continue to rot.
Points of interest from the audit report
– CUSD has only spent $16,900 on roofing since Measure S was passed, excluding Building C repairs.
– El Granada, Farallone View, and Kings Mountain have received almost nothing from Cabrillo Unified School District Measure S other than new technology, new door locks, and new lighting that were part of districtwide upgrades.
– CUSD authorized $4M in technology spending and has spent about $3M. Details of the $4M Cabrillo Unified School District spent or committed to spending on on Technology do not appear to be publicly documented anywhere. We don’t know which vendors were used or what prices we’ve paid.
